Description

Evidence of domesticated lentils dating back to 8000 BC was first found in northern Syria, on the banks of the Euphrates River.

B.C. In the 3000s, St. Petersburg on Lake Biel, Switzerland. Traces of lentils have been found in lake dwellings on Peter Island and are mentioned in many historical narratives and holy books.

In India, where approximately half of the world's lentil production is consumed, lentil cultivation dates back to B.C. It dates back to 2500 BC. Today, more than 50 different varieties are grown.

Lentils, which were only reached by Spanish and Portuguese explorers in the 16th century, came to the West via the Near East and became popular, especially in France.

Today, lentil varieties are widely grown along the Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean coasts, and are also produced in different regions as far north as Germany, the Netherlands and France.
